Getting Started

Where do I get started packing in my house?

We recommend beginning in the room that is least essential to your daily routine. In most cases, this is a hallway closet, guest room, or a section of the garage — spaces that contain items you don’t use regularly. Starting here allows you to build momentum, stay organized, and gradually work your way toward more essential areas of the home as moving day approaches.

Packing Guidelines

What goes in what box?

Proper packing ensures the safety of your belongings and maximizes space during transport. As a general guideline:

  • Small Boxes: Ideal for heavier items such as dishes, glassware, pantry goods, toiletries, and other fragile or dense items.
  • Medium Boxes: Best for pots and pans, baking sheets, small appliances, linens, closet items, and decorative pieces. Most items in the bedroom closets, clothes, shoes, purses go in medium boxes.
  • Large Boxes: Suitable for lightweight, bulky items such as pillows, comforters, and garage storage items.

Our team is happy to provide recommendations or packing services to ensure everything is securely prepared for your move.

Do I need to pack items in the dresser drawers?

No, we typically remove the drawers with their contents and transport them separately, either boxed or securely wrapped, to help prevent damage to the dresser. Once at the new location, we reassemble the piece. In cases where the furniture is lightweight and structurally sound, we may transport it with the contents inside.

How do I pack artwork?

Artwork requires specialized care. We offer two professional packing options with our team:

  • Padded Paper Wrapping: Triple-wall padded paper is carefully wrapped around the piece for protection.
  • Custom Boxing: For additional security, we create a custom cardboard enclosure or use a specialty art box tailored to the size of the piece, secured with shrink wrap.

If you have very high-value artwork, we would be happy to recommend a professional art crating company that specializes in gallery-quality packing and transport.

Should I bring a TV box?

You are welcome to provide a TV box; however, it is not necessary. Our team can professionally protect your television using padded moving blankets, shrink wrap, and a custom box to ensure safe transport.

Should I pack an overnight bag?

Yes. We recommend preparing a personal essentials bag containing toiletries, medications, a change of clothes, important documents, chargers, and any items you may need immediately after your move.

Appliances & Household Items

Do you transport items in the fridge?

For safety and sanitation, we do not transport perishable items. We recommend placing them in coolers or insulated containers. These items should be loaded last and unloaded first to maintain freshness.

Can you transport plants?

Yes, we can transport plants and will secure them as carefully as possible using appropriate packing materials to minimize movement during transit. However, due to their delicate nature and sensitivity to temperature, handling, and travel conditions, we cannot guarantee their condition upon arrival. We recommend you transport your fragile plants when possible.

Should I disconnect appliances?

Yes. Appliances should be disconnected prior to moving day. For gas dryers, a licensed professional or PG&E should safely disconnect and cap the line. In older homes, washing machines may also require proper capping. Ensuring appliances are ready in advance helps prevent delays and ensures a smooth moving process.

Moving Day Expectations

Do I need to be present on moving day?

Yes. We ask that you be present at the start of the move to confirm details and provide instructions. It is also important to be available at the destination to direct our team on item placement. Your guidance allows us to work efficiently and ensures a seamless moving experience.

Can we ride in the moving truck?

For safety and liability reasons, passengers are not permitted to ride in our moving trucks. We kindly ask that clients arrange their own transportation to and from each location.

Do you use day laborers or contracted workers?

No. All of our services are performed by our trusted in-house team on our payroll. Our employees are fully covered by workers’ compensation and liability insurance, providing peace of mind and ensuring consistent, high-quality service.
